Although Tyndale has been somewhat elusive to his biographers, Teems brings wit and wisdom to the story of the man known as the "architect of the English language," the English Paul who defied a kingdom and a tyrannical church to introduce God to the plowboy.

I can never get over that the Bible used to be available in only Greek or Latin.  I can't fathom sitting in those old Masses not knowing what was being spoken unless you were wealthy or privileged enough to be educated.  I'm so thankful for the Reformation and the efforts of the men who brought religion to the masses.

This looks like an informative and enjoyable read!

I don't know about you, but I find that every now and then, I need to take a break from fiction and dive into some non-fiction.  I've been looking forward to this book since the day I found out it was coming! In fact, I had even pre-ordered it at Borders many months ago before the chain closed.  So, I was saddened when they cancelled my order as the liquidation process began.  But I digress....

Tullian Tchividjian is a Pastor at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, and is one of Billy Graham's grandsons.  He is charismatic and contemporary in his approach to the pulpit.  There was even fuss from some over his refusal to wear the traditional Pastoral robes.  His own life story is one that includes rebellion, and he'll be the first to tell you that he's a Prodigal and a sinner in need of grace.  But he'll  remind you in this book (and even on Twitter!) that we all need grace.  But only grace.  We shouldn't beat ourselves up trying to be perfect to win God's favor.  Nor do we need to.  If we look at what grace really means, we'll find freedom and live more abundantly.

I can't wait to read this book! I follow Pastor Tullian on Twitter and have seen some of his sermons on this topic, so I know it will be rewarding.

Although I haven't yet read the Prophecy of the Sisters trilogy, I want to.  And when I browsed the most recent catalog for Penguin Books, this beautiful cover caught my eye.  Very interesting premise! I look forward to finding out more about this upcoming release.

Another Ripper book for me.  What can I say? I love the period.  But wait--it's modern? Curious to know how past and present will merge.  And I love creepy!   This is the start of a new series.  If it's good, it could be dangerous.  Seems nearly everything I buy lately is part of a series....

This has me curious, because it appears to take the Ripper story and turn it upside down.  After all, Jack the Ripper was supposed to have terrorized London in the late 1880's.  So, I want to see what he's doing in New York.  And Teddy Roosevelt? That's an unexpected twist!  I can't wait to see if the book is as creative as the premise suggests.

The Fourth Book of Bayern

How do I love Shannon Hale? Let me count the ways! 

I love, love, love, love  The Goose Girl ! While the books may be marketed for ages 12 and up, you need to be a bit older to really appreciate the beauty with which Shannon Hale crafts her stories.  She has created modern fairy tales with this series.  I haven't read beyond The Goose Girl yet -- not because it wasn't great, but because it was.  I am afraid to gobble it all up too quickly, because I don't want it to be over.  That said, once Forest Born is released in paperback, my set will be complete.  And I might allow myself to delve into Enna Burning. 

I mean, come on....could these covers be any more beautiful??

Underdogs compiles three novels:  The Underdog, Fighting Ruben Wolfe,  and Getting The Girl. These three books began the publishing career of Markus Zusak, author of The Book Thief. For the first time, this volume gives American readers a chance to read The Underdog which was previously unavailable in the States.  If you caught my The Time Will Come post, you'll understand why The Messenger will have to wait a bit longer.  I want to start at the beginning!

The Isle of Blood is third in The Monstrumologist series. The series opener, The Monstrumologist, was named a Printz Honor book in 2010.  These books are so much fun! A monster hunter and his apprentice! What makes these special is that they really feel like period books (19th century Gothic). Not for the faint of heart, but they make perfect Halloween/October reading! When I finally have this in my hands, I'll keep it aside and begin on October 1st! Of course, this is assuming Borders.com makes good on my pre-order that I've had placed since June! And it's also assuming I don't decide to get an early start on my Halloween reading!

It's out! Book three in The Wolves of Mercy Falls series, Forever.  I'd have this book in my hands already, but I pre-ordered it online for $8.74  (list price is $17.99) and thanks to Borders Bucks from my Borders Rewards membership, I didn't have to spend a dime of my own money.  So, I'll sit tight and wait for Tom, my friendly mail carrier, to deliver this book.  I've noticed folks are reading it and reviews of ARCs are coming in, but I'm avoiding them like the plague for fear of spoilers.

If you liked Twilight or are a big fan of Paranormal Romance, you'll love this series by Maggie Stiefvater.  Besides having cool covers, the pages inside have colored ink to match! Start with book #1, Shiver, now available in paperback, and continue with book #2, Linger.

It feels like eons that I've been waiting to get my hands on these puppies! The Ranger's Apprentice series is a New York Times Bestseller! I absolutely adore John Flanagan's characters and the world they inhabit!

The problem is that the 10 book series is now available in its entirety in hardback.  However, I started buying these in paperback, so I'm committed to the smaller format.  I like my sets to match.  The good news is that both books 7 and 8 will be out on the same day! That's great, because I generally buy the newest installment the day it is released (or earlier if I can get it!) and take it straight home where I devour it whole! 

No summaries for these 'cause I don't want to see anything that will ruin my anticipation or give away the plot.  Also, this is the middle of a series so I don't want to give anything away to folks who may be just beginning.  If you haven't yet read any of the Ranger's Apprentice books, what are you waiting for?! You'll love them!
