The author did extensive research and many of the incidents that happened in the book are based on real accounts from survivors of this horrific period. I was completely engrossed by the story which was both powerful and heartbreaking. I fully expect this book to be able to hold it's own and make it onto recommended reading lists for years to come.

Informative URL for Top Austin Tow Truck companyhttp://www.austintowing.biznoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-136282549277076253.post-71384682833774365322015-01-13T08:05:29.464-05:002015-01-13T08:05:29.464-05:00That is the power of books such as these, we find ...That is the power of books such as these, we find truth and comfort that even in a time as this, there are those that risk everything to help one another. It's nice to know that even though I felt at times like no one was reading that there are people out there who cared enough to read. (Yes, thank you, too, Molly!) I am SO glad that I am not the only one that...Dawn! I am SO glad that I am not the only one that has (or is having) a slump lately! I just recently started blogging again after about a 3 month, unintentional and unannounced hiatus. I was feeling precisely as you do, that blogging was taking away from valuable reading time. I read to feel happy, to help when I'm sad, I just love to read! And when blogging was taking away from that, or stressing me out, I just didn't feel like doing it. I am in awe of people who can read tons of books and then write reviews about them and then do tons of other things online to help promote books or their blog, etc, but I'm just not one of those people and I am ok with that (and I don't think you are as well...in a good way of course!) Yes, maybe I won't get a ton of ARC requests, or do a ton of author interviews, but as long as I can read and enjoy my reading, and possibly help others enjoy reading as well, that's ok!
And though I have gotten back into blogging again, it's because I want to and I am not putting pressure on myself. I have decided that I will write review about 99% on my blog, and then share random book related things for the other 1%. I will make comments and participate in others blogs and reviews because that is why I started blogging in the first place, is because I like seeing what others have to say about a book and that has helped me find some real gems and I want to keep having that experience and hope that I can help others with it as well, which is why I will mainly focus on reading tons and tons of books and writing reviews when I get the chance.
I hope you don't mind my enormously long comment (I wonder if it will even post!) but I just wanted to say I TOTALLY understand the place you are in and to let you know that you take as long as you need to decide what percentage of blogging you want to do, if at all, and when, if at all, you're going to do it! This should be something where you get benefits out of the equation, not just taking all of your time and effort away from things that help re-energize you like books and your music.
Also, as one you completely understands what you're talking about, if you ever want to discuss it more, you know where to find me! ^__^ Enjoy whatever it is you want to do!Scarletthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17051041804408030528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-136282549277076253.post-16367922923331618932012-02-27T21:17:50.755-05:002012-02-27T21:17:50.755-05:00I just want to say that I love your reviews. I am happy to share my story. I start...Hey there. I am happy to share my story. I started blogging when I was 10 and in fifth grade. Now I'm 12 and in seventh grade. In that time, book blogging has changed so much. There are so many more bloggers and so much more pressure than when I first started. Brand new bloggers must feel very overwhelmed.

The only meme that I've ever taken part in is IMM. I have always done my own thing and focused on my reviews. Author interviews, guest posts, and giveaways coming second to the reviews.

My favorite thing about blogging has always been meeting people (on line and in person) and making new friends. I love that, no matter our ages, we all had books in common!

I gave up my blog a few weeks ago because of the time commitment. I wanted more time for just being me - a twelve year old girl. What I found is that I have more time to read and I can read the books I want in any order I want. No pressure to read them based on release date or tour date. I also have more time for family, friends, and school work.

To feed my need for keeping those friendships I formed while blogging, I am still on twitter talking books, but not as much as before. I think I've found a happy balance. I hope you do too.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-136282549277076253.post-29946718956036685272012-02-19T15:55:37.415-05:002012-02-19T15:55:37.415-05:00It's a shame you didn't get the community ...It's a shame you didn't get the community feel, because that was the biggest pull to stay for me. Maybe it was because you didn't do memes, but I guess we won't know :-/

Reading and reviewing really does become a chore, and for me I hated that I was reading on a schedule - it just put me off. Since quitting though I have only read 3 books and that's really bad. I went from reading at least one a week to 3 in about 4 months. Ooops.

Just decide to do whatever makes you happy :DKelliumSimshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15781799535740329495noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-136282549277076253.post-4842673455609030412012-02-19T14:33:50.154-05:002012-02-19T14:33:50.154-05:00When I jumped into blogging, I had NO idea how to ...When I jumped into blogging, I had NO idea how to go about it. I'd been at LiveJournal for years, but this time I made a conscious decision to be a "book blogger." I started doing Follow Friday, TGIF, Waiting On Wednesday, etc. Then that all started to feel like a chore. I got caught in the "follow for a follow" trap (which I'm going to devote a post to soon on my blog) and that did NOT work for me. I ended up getting caught in, like you say, a popularity contest, following WAY too many blogs, and it took me awhile to really find my place.

I still struggle with jealousy over other, bigger blogs than mine. I don't have the time I'd like to blog so I make the most of what time I DO have. But what I've finally seen is just...to be me.

Now I only do one weekly meme, and one twice a month. I only do IMM once a month, and that works for me. I did a follower survey and people wanted more reviews and less memes, so I've focused on that. I'm finding my footing and enjoying blogging more than ever.

You have to do what YOU have to do, Dawn. If it's blogging, or just reading your books and re-discovering reading just for the joy of reading. I'll support you either way. : )Molli @ Once Upon a Prologuehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14817317037277260565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-136282549277076253.post-55662063036800356492012-02-02T21:28:38.404-05:002012-02-02T21:28:38.404-05:00I'm glad that my husband bought the hardbacks....I'm glad that my husband bought the hardbacks.
